Save the video inside your motion photos

Samsung and Pixel phones tuck a few seconds of video into every motion photo. Drop them here to get each clip as an MP4 that plays anywhere — and the photo on its own, if you like.

Your photos never leave your device

A smaller copy of the same picture. Its motion tag is switched off, so apps don’t go looking for a video that isn’t there.

Everything happens inside this page. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is sent anywhere — once the page has loaded, it even works offline.

How it works

Cut out, never re-encoded

Find

The photo itself says where its video is: Google’s motion photo tags, Samsung’s trailer or an HEIC’s video box. Nothing is guessed from the file name.

Copy

The MP4 is copied out byte for byte, so it keeps its full quality and sound. Each file gets the photo’s name, ending in .mp4.

Keep the photo

If you like, the photo without its video too, its name ending in -still. Your original file is never changed.

iPhone

What about Live Photos?

An iPhone keeps a Live Photo’s video in its own .MOV file, next to the HEIC or JPG — copies from iCloud and Google Takeout include both. There’s nothing to extract: that .MOV already plays anywhere.
