Find duplicate photos in a folder

Backups of backups, the same import done twice, a phone synced to three places. Pick a folder and see every exact copy and the space it wastes.

Your photos never leave your device

Pick a folder to check Photos, RAW files and phone videos · subfolders included

Read-only: this tool never deletes, moves or changes a file. It only lists what it finds.

Everything happens inside this page. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is sent anywhere — once the page has loaded, it even works offline.

How it works

Byte-for-byte copies, found fast

Sort by size

Files are grouped by size first. A file no other file matches in size can’t have a copy, so it is never even opened.

Fingerprint

Files of the same size get a SHA-256 fingerprint — a quick one from the start of the file, then the full one. Same size and same fingerprint means the same bytes.

Touch nothing

The folder is opened read-only. You get the list — with thumbnails, paths and sizes — and decide yourself what to keep.

Similar, not identical

What about edited copies and bursts?

A resized copy, an edit or ten shots of the same moment aren’t the same bytes, so this tool won’t pair them. Finding those takes AI that looks at the pictures themselves — which is what firelet.media Gallery does, on your own PC.
